BTS’s Jungkook breaks Billboard world chart record

While most of us haven’t been doing much more than baking banana bread in lockdown, Jungkook from BTS has been putting us all to shame by breaking yet another record.

His latest achievement has been to become the longest-charting solo K-Pop artist on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, racking up an enormous 26 weeks.

Jungkook’s solo song Euphoria originally came out in 2018, but re-entered the worldwide iTunes song chart this month, which also meant it broke 26 weeks on the Billboard world chart too.

It also meant that he broke the record previously held by Jennie with Solo and Bubble Pop by Hyuna.

The track also sold over four million international copies. making it the best-selling B-side in K-pop, too. The beautiful song, showcasing Jungkook’s incredible vocals, and the emotive video to go alongside it has made the song a fan favourite.

Euphoria’s new record isn’t the only accolade Jungkook has achieved even in this month alone – he also managed to break the record of being the only person to achieve over two million likes on five of his Twitter posts too. Jungkook was also named the most-searched Idol on Google and YouTube for 2020 so far, and also held the title for 2019 too.

All of this is in large part thanks to the ARMY, BTS’s fan group, who are always behind their boys, making sure there’s pretty much no record the band can’t beat, either as a collective or on their own. It looks like there is plenty more to come as Big Hit Entertainment have teased a countdown to something, which has been shared by BTS’s account.
