"Agust D" Suga (BTS) reigns iTunes chart in 80 countries

Member Suga (BTS) has been sweeping the iTunes Top Albums chart in 80 regions of the world with the second mixtape "D-2" released after 4 years since his first mixtape.

By 8 am (KST) May 23, Suga's mixtape "D-2" led iTunes Top Albums chart in 80 countries and regions worldwide like the US, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Peru, etc.

Besides, this mixtape's title song "Daechwita" has also topped the Top Songs chart in 50 countries and territories. Immediately after its release on May 22, the song received a hearty response from global fans.

Sugar put out his first mixtape titled "Agust D" in August 2016 under the stage name of Agust D. At the time, the male singer attracted a great deal of attention by showing another side of Sugar with plain lyrics and sophisticated melody. Sugar continued to participate in the composition and lyrics writing of all 10 songs included in this mixtape, thereby putting a wide range of emotions he felt in his current life into songs of various genres.

The title song "Daechwita" is made based on the sample of Daechwita - the Korean traditional military music. Suga's intense and heavy rap is added to the beat of traditional instruments like pansori and kkwaenggwari, thereby making a much more exotic atmosphere for the song. Set against the background of the royal palace highlighting the Korean traditional beauty, the song's MV also stands out with Suga's epic acting and enthusiasm. Besides the audio version, the MV "Daechwita" has been well received by worldwide fans when recording 10 million views on YouTube after only 8 hours of its release.

It's impossible to overlook the names featured in Suga's mixtape this time. Besides his bandmate fellow RM, the artists with different styles from singer-songwriter NiiHWA, American singer-songwriter Max, to band Nell's Kim Jongwan, joined hands to team up with Suga, creating such formidable spreading effect.

RM cast doubt on the social structure and system of the present world through the 4th track "Strange". In addition, NiiHWA, who featured in the 5th track "28", harmonized with Suga's bass thanks to his soft voice. Max also demonstrated his ability and added a different kind of charm through the 6th track "Burn It". As for the last track "Dear My Friend", Kim Jong Wan's melting vocal had deep resonance for listeners.
